Siglo Events: Welcome Oriana to LA Live Sessions, it’s a pleasure to have you. Let’s start with the basics, when did you start playing music? What was your first gig?

Oriana Lucas: I started playing music a long time ago when my mom gave me a guitar as a present on Christmas. I was 15 years old when I started composing songs but I always love singing, since I was a kid I sing in every choral or ensemble at my high school.

Then when I was 18 years old I auditioned for a Pop Rock band back in my country and they selected me as the lead singer thanks to that I had the opportunity to tour with groups as Estopa and Camila all over Venezuela, It was amazing because it was my first performance as a professional singer and I had to sing in front of over than 7000 people.

S.E - This single “Lo vi venir” is pretty heartfelt. In the song, you sign about the before and after of a relationship with a person in your life.  What’s the story behind the song?

O.L.- This song was a real story that happened to me, it was a very hard decision I had to make regarding a relationship I had. “Lo Vi Venir, I saw it coming” it’s talking about the intuition I had regarding a situation and thanks to that I ended up realizing that I had to figure it out and know better myself in order to be with someone.

I really like being vulnerable and telling true stories on my songs because I think that’s the way you connect with other people and what music is about. I’m sure that a lot of people felt related to these experiences.

S.E - Who inspires you as a musician? & why?

O.L.-I have a lot of influences and more since I moved to LA. I came to study music and I’ve learned so much from other genres and artists but I could say Shakira is an artist that really inspires me. I followed her career since her first album and the fact that she is what she is right now motivates me a lot. Besides that she is an amazing musician, she plays most of the instruments, she dance and she sings amazing. That’s something I really admire.

S.E - Walk us through your creative process. How does it start for you? How do you develop a song?

O.L.- When I compose a song I normally started with my guitar, playing around whit some chord progression and then I decided what to write about. Depending of how I’m feeling at the moment or what things had happened in my life I try to write and share a message.

Normally I love composing with other people, sharing the vibe and seeing other points of view makes the song better.

O.L.- One thing you should know about me is that I have 5 brothers, I’m the only girl and the youngest lol, non of them are musicians either artist so I think it’s a fun fact.
